Planning to buy a computer : Need some help!!!?

I鈥檓 planning to buy a Desktop unfortunately I鈥檓 not a computer expert so I really need some help please.

My question is that if I but a computer either from Circuit City, Best Buy or Fry鈥檚 what softwares are already include in the computer? Do I have to buy security software, office productivity software like Microsoft office Home %26 Student, Digital Media software etc?

I鈥檓 asking this because for Dell computers I need to buy all these softwares apparently MS Word is not include.

Please inform me

Thank you..

Most sales of Windows machines do not include full licenses of anything but Windows itself. Microsoft Office, for instance sometimes comes with a 30- 60 or 90-day trial version. At the end of that time, you either buy the real thing or stop using it. Norton (Symantec) and McAfee anti-viruses also generally come with a brief free anti-virus definition period.

Most everything else is extra. Beware also that trial versions statuses are sometimes quietly not mentioned by the salesperson or the promotion literature.

That will depend upon who built the computer. The best thing would be to go to Best Buy, Circuit City or Office Depot and pose your questions to the people there before you make your purchase. Make sure you go with a list because you will forget once you are in the store.
As long as its not a Mac, you have something useful.
Buy a Mac. You can't get a virus and you can get the people at the store to train you when you buy the protection package.
most computers (except dell) come with all programs in them....even the programs you'll probably never use. It is all free, except they sometimes charge to have the store install security software. That will be in total when you purchase the computer. This software will normaly need to be repurchased every year, but your computer automaticaly reminds you like a month a head of time.
