Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this stupid pop-up ad on my computer???

The pop-up says something like "Windows has found several critical system errors to fix this problem download Registry Cleaner" from some website (fix32.com, I think). Other than this pop-up there is nothing wrong with my computer. I have Norton internet security, but it won't make this one go away! Also, for those who are wont to ask: Yes, it is a pop-up and not a real warning. The window that it pops up in looks similar to a normal window, but not exactly. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Microsoft Windows operating systems (98, ME, XP, 2000, NT) allow anyone on the Internet to generate pop-up messages on your computer screen if your messenger service is active.Even ill-intentioned individuals or companies can generate pop-ups to try to fool you into going into websites to 'phis' your personal information, usually credit card numbers, passwords etc.And some spammers exploit the messenger service to distribute their ads.

The fact that the message asks you to visit a website and download a program makes it clear that it wasn't "windows" that has "found critical system errors".so,you are absolutely right that it is a pop-up message.

As a general safety precaution,DO NOT download nor install anything from pop-ups.Just visiting their websites leaves "tracking cookies" on your machine.
