Install it in a different computer and boot it up , the computer won't start insert vista DVD restart computer chose language do not click install click repair and when the menu pups up asking you to repair start up and reboot click on no because if you click on yes you have to activate vista so when the other menu opens click on repair start up.

You will run into constant problems when your try to boot your HD into a different computer due to the different drivers needed for the system board.
Put the Original CD in and run a repair...
All you really need to do is plug it into another computer.

The only issue is that it will have the boot record for your Vista installation on it, so any computer you plug it into might try to boot off your installation. If it does that, it will not work properly.

Your best bet would be to go to newegg.com and buy an external hard drive enclosure. That way you could just plug it into any other computer VIA USB.
you could drive to work i guess or ride a bike.
