I have been debating about giving up the computer field all together and going into a manual labor job working for the railroad or at US Steel. Here are some some reasons why.
Although I have a college degree in Computer Information Systems and I had great grades, everyone just seems so much smarter than me in this field. I feel I can't match up.
I can get a job working for the railroad for the same pay, better benefits, less stress, low job expectations, and everyone in those jobs seems to be more at my intelligence level.
You don't have to be a productive worker as a railroad engineer, at least that is what my stepdad who works for the railroad tells me. In fact if you are productive they will find a way to fire you.
Great job security, you can't get fired once you join the union and it is lifetime job. The IT industry is on contract and it is easy for them to give you the pink slip.
Railroad engineers make $75,000 a year.

well, if you can do it then do it... There are a lot of pros and cons to any job out there... If you like it and try it then stick with it...
Good luck
