I have Norton Internet Security on. So i was browsing when a pop up (ads) appeared. I felt this was wierd so i scaned my computer, but nothing (no viruses were found on Norton Virus Scan) was found. I was just wondering if Norton could locate spyware and also how safe is Norton..... viruses and spyware can be a *****.
Norton Internet Security???anti virus software
Norton is an anti-virus and you need anti-spyware in addtion to prevent pop-ups.
Your machine is infected. Pop-ups are mostly caused by adware, spyware, and other malicious and unwanted software and using pop-up blocker won't help an infected PC. No single program can detect and eradicate all spyware and I recommend using Ad-aware and Spybot (they are free). Other great free anti-spyware programs would be Super anti-spyware and AVG anti-spyware (formally Ewido).
Norton is the worst anti-virus product ever made and I would not install it on my computer if I was paid to do so. Norton is more of a virus than an anti-virus. It's a huge resource hog, notoriously bloated and takes forever to perform full systems scans. The software will do more harm to your PC than good and when you try to remove it, it leaves behind over 375 traces in your registry files/folders and subsystem. It's so bad they had to create a removal tool which is still not going to fix all the problems. Your better off using one of the free anti-virus products.
It has been proven ESET NOD32 and Kaspersky are better than the best sellers Norton and McAfee (see the consumersearch source for reviews of the top anti-virus products).
If you want a free anti-virus, get AVG, Avast! or AntiVir (install only 1).
Norton Internet Security???aurora
Upgrade your Norton with anti spyware also, $10 I think.
