After years of using my computer it decides on its own to restart and acts like its brand new again. Everything that I had on my desk top and saved in files and folders was what I thought was lost but found it later under a different User in Document and Settings. I am the only one using this computer. I use wireless cable network, does that compromise my security more so than with a direct connect cable? Is someone hacking into my computer or is it virus? I have security protection Ive downloaded from the internet already installed, should I buy a better one?
I dont have the option to do a system restore like other computers. I just want to know whats the cause and to be able to prevent it from happening again. Thanks!

several things i would do
1-get a password for your log-in (with letters and numbers)
2- get adaware
www.lavasoft.com
se personal its free
get update, reboot and do a full scan
3- get a good firewall
zonealarm
www.zonelabs.com
has a free or paid version
get your anti-virus up todate and do a full scan
try this online scan
www.housecall.trendmicro.com
make sure you got windows update also

Kill it!
I think you just logged on under a different user. check under control panel , users and see what usernames are there. then try logging on under the original user name.
hope that helps
u should try running spyware comcast gives it to u free! or they have sites go to www.google.com click in spyware and they have free downloads,
