Can i install Windows vista on my computer with windows Xp home edition version 2002?

All i want is the latest and the newest for my computer so i want to install window vista on my computer but i dont if it is capable with this kind of program. My doubt is, if u uninstall window xp first then how u going to install window vista with out any programs running on te backgroung, you know what i mean?. if u are patience to tell me no every steps but the important steps how uninstall window xp and then install window vista to my computer because i have also problem with my security center- (virus protection) and i just want to rid of all that and be secure that my computer is working properly.



i am really fan fixing computer of all friend or other people but this kind of thing if better ask for help.

since u said it runs on xp 2002, vista might not work. on your computer is a little sticker that has the xp logo (unless u took it off). but anyway, the sticker will say 'windows xp, vista capable' if it doesn't say this, then vista won't work right. and even if it is capable, i really don't recommend vista for a number of reasons. first, many of ur old programs (which i'm guessing u do since u have a 2002 version) aren't likely to work on vista. also, if its a slower computer (older especially) will just be further crippled by vista. but if u still really want it, back up EVERYTHING first like on an external hard drive (that is, anything important like documents and programs u don't have cds for. hope this is helpful
