Im 28 years old, I have 4 months left in the army, I have a secret security clearance, about 15 years of total computer experience, and a passion for everything PC. I have no certifications however, where might i find employment in the civilian world once i leave the army? I can fix almost anything when it comes to a computer, hardware or software, i just tinker untill i figure it out. I am a true nerd insofar that i fix computers all day at work only to return to my room and work on my own into the wee early morning hours. A Technophile, if you will. Shy, very personable and intelligent. I just want to find my niche in the world. Ideas? Comments? Suggestions? please, enlighten me.
Where is there a future for an experienced army computer nerd?panda
You can look into network security, with an eye toward going to work for a military contractor. That might be profitable for you.
Or you could look into Linux certification.

This site is a good starting point to look into the exam requirements. This site is for general Linux certification.
If you have had any experience with Linux or Unix systems (Unix commands work on Linux), you should be able to learn all you need fairly quickly.
There are more specific certifications available, also. For example, you can get certified for Redhat Linux or Ubuntu Linux.
