I had a windows xp firewall.
My son said to install comodo which I did, but I remembered people on here saying never put on two firewalls, so I questioned him via email.
He said that was wrong and if they were both windows firewalls, it was ok to keep both on there, so I turned windows xp firewall back on even though comodo firewall was now installed.
When I did I got this message
FPRIVATE "TYPE=PICT;ALT=Microsoft Windows graphic"
Why you should only use one firewall
If you have more than one firewall installed on your computer, you should not have both firewalls turned on at the same time. Two firewalls turned on at the same time can cause compatibility problems that result in some programs not working correctlyTo help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats, you should always have one firewall installed and turned on. Windows includes a firewall that is turned on by default. (However, some computer manufacturers and network administrators might turn it
Is my son right or wrong and is he being a jerk..computer question?ducati
The firewall answer sounds right--can't think of any reason you'd need two..he sounds like a real jerkoff--I can relate. He's probably pretty intelligent and your questions agitate him--could be a little more patient with you though
