IE 7 issues with Windows XP security issues published 02/12/2007?

My computer auto-installed the Windows XP security updates that were published on 02/12/2007. Now Internet Explorer 7 does not work, showing me the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message. I am fully connected to the internet so that is not the problem. Any suggestions on how to fix my problem with IE 7?

All of those Updates are ligitimate updates. They are not causing your problem.

Try cleaning your Browsers Cache by deleting the Cookies, Temp Files and History in Internet Options.

I honestly don't know if this will fix it, but take a look at your Content Advisor. If it is on, turn it off.

You can find your Content Advisor settings by going to Tools %26gt;%26gt; Internet Options %26gt;%26gt; Content.

If it is currently enabled, disable it and try browsing again.
check your start up group . under tabs .it may have went to original default .
I have an almost identical problem. I installed the same 8 UPDATES but one is KB 931836 instead of 931936.Also my updates showed 2 additonal ones that you did not mention. KB 928090 and 890830. I did a system restore back to Feb 5th and now all is ok . I am afraid to reinstall them. Did any of the suggestions posted here work ?

Suppose I have a wireless router and computer with Wireless card connected to it.

Can a second computer intercept the data exchange between the router and first computer? And can this cause a security problem - eg. if the first computer transmits username/passwords of bank account ? How to protect against this threat ?

Your wireless signal can certainly be hijacked. Mine was, and I just got off the phone with the router manufacturer (Linksys), after a lengthy conversation on how to reset my wireless. My signal had been hjacked for days until I got the answers from Linksys. Call your router manufacturer, or look it up in a Google search. Firefox, without a doubt. (I have mentioned which security programs to use below).

Following these steps will increase the "speed" of your computer dramatically.

1) Clean up the disk. Uninstall unneeded programs (especially those that run at startup and/or put something in the system tray), run Disk Cleanup, and defragment the drive. This is a good first step that will almost always take a few seconds off boot time and application loads for any computer.

2) Stomp auto-starting programs. Click Start %26gt; Run and type "msconfig" at the prompt. Click the Startup tab and look at all that junk that loads when you launch your PC. Do you really need "Adobe Reader Speed Launch"? Probably not. Turn off anything else that looks useless, but be careful not to disable your anti-virus and important system components.

What is the difference between anti-virus software and internet security suite software?

Is the anti-virus enough?? Or do I need a security suite?? Does the security suite slow down the computer or throw in annoying firewalls that block file sharing programs??

What is the best thing to do?

It seems if I go with a straight antivirus software I should get BitDefender....but Norton if I want a Security Suite....

Security suites tend to slow your computer a lot. Virus.gr did a test on anti-virus programs and Kaspersky v.6 ranked the highest, but the Active Virus Shield by aol is ranked second (well they both ranked the same on percent) anyways Active Virus Shield is based on kaspersky and it's free.The link is below

It all depends on what you do with your computer. If you do a lot of downloading and surfing I would suggest at least an anti-virus and spyware program.

Do you really expect it to come out next January? It'll be delayed again for sure. However, when it comes out, I'll upgrade for sure. However, don't you think hackers will stop working on XP stuff once most people switch to Vista, meaning that XP will not be too dangerous?

Vista doesn't thrill me. More graphical features that require a higher specs. But nothing much else that hasn't been done already.

im havin a hard time gettin a job as a security guard well this company wants to hire me the trouble is what area where they want to put me and they did not find anything yet. and they will let me know asap. i do have my sec lic and cert. and took the 16 and 8 hr course. but for now im look in my spare time lookin for other co.mpanies for security guard iv'e looked in the computer there were 100 companies for security guard. im thinking calling them that is close to my town.give me some advice on this. i took the course in november 2007
