I installed McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007 to my PC but then Microsoft Encarta 2005 stopped fun

I installed McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007 to my PC just now but then the Microsoft Encarta 2005 stopped functioning. I mean, it's still there, but no information shows up. A plain black background with a sky blue font says:

Encarta did not find the page or keyword you searched for...

I tried closing and opening the window again, but the same thing happens. What must I do?

I don't know if the two things are related but it happened after I installed McAfee.

And one more thing, the McAfee Security Center says that my computer is not protected. I tried to fix the problem but then they told me that my antivirus protection has expired! How could these things be?

Please help me. (Thank you very much!)

Just reinstall Encarta, it has no connection with MacAfee.

Almost all te anti-viruses do not detect other anti-viruses but that's just for personal ends. My ZA Pro doesn't detect AVG and prompts me to buy the Zone Alarm anti-virus.

So don't worry. Hope it helps!

Good Luck!

spy bot ad aware http://www.download.com
Go into options, click on privacy tab,you should be able to take care of the problem from there.
Download antspyware program may help you.
Try getting out of Inet Explorer. If that doesn't work, you might try restarting. If That doesnt work, you might have a virus, or nasty spyware.

Why do Computer Geniuses feel the pleasure in creating and infecting other peoples home personal com

I recently had a fraudulent software called "winfixer2006" infect and invade my personal pc not too long ago. It popped up on my screen with the microsoft Windows XP security window saying that my computer has a blackworm trojan virus and winfixer can remove it by purchasing and downloading it for $39.95. Obviously it looked authentic due to the Dell and Microsoft icons, and the computer was behaving badly, so I entered my bank card information and home address and downloaded it. By the next morning, I had told my wife about it, and she immediately checked consumer reports to see if this winfixer was the real thing or not. It turned out to be a scam! Stupid Me! Fortunately i was able to remove the malware with Ad-Aware SE.

Spyware and adware has developed into a multi billion dollar big business.

As long as the "noobs" keep clicking and buying...they will keep infecting computers with their adware and goading you to buy it.

The "script kiddies" who used to write this malware as a joke have discovered that the can make 100,000s dollars a year by downloading trojans and other crapware onto your comp and even controling your comp from the comfort of their place in Bulgaria China or Russia!

HELP! My computer receives "Error 678: The remote computer did not respond..", on my DSL/P

I already tried to reset the winsock and TCP/IP stack, flush the dns. tried static IP, updated the driver of the onboard lan. used a different PCI lan Card. set the NIC to half duplex, lowered the MTU and bitrate. reinstall my Windows XP Pro (SP2). turn off firewall/Internet Security to no avail, my computer cannot get a valid ip adress and keeps on having an APIPA ...im losing hope....and the weird thing is, the same line/modem works on the other computer. any advise will be greatly appreciated.

the same thing happened to our PC. the technician from the dsl company brought his own laptop and when he connected it to our modem, the connection worked. he said that our PC might have a virus, it turned out that when my husband re-formatted it, the installation was not proper. so, we reformatted it again, and after that the connection worked. i would suggest that you reformat your PC.

If you are using a modem, you can only use one machine. You need a router, this allows the use of multiple machines on the connection. You now need to default all the settings you changed, these are things you really never should touch in normal circumstances.

My computer has cookies? what do i do?

i have this norton security scan thing on my computer and it says that it has cookies. i dont know what that is but im afraid its some kind of virus. its making my computer kinda slow and i wanna get rid of it. is there anything i need to download? i dont want any complicated descriptions. i just wanna know what this "cookies" is and how do i get rid of it. please help me! thanks!

My computer has cookies? what do i do?norton internet security

Buy it some milk! :)

ok, seriously, just go to tools, Internet options, delete, delete cookies, it doesn't get any simpler

My computer has cookies? what do i do?spyware remove

Cookies are just information stored by websites. Some cookies (probably the ones Norton detect) can track where you go and send it to some company. They are not a virus in any way shape or form (well it may be classified as a trojan since it gives info on what sites you've been to).

Short and Sweet: Remove the ones Norton says, but in general cookies are fine.
you have the answer above... Only tracking cookies are the ones you dont want to keep..

you can safely delete them all..

If you delete them all you will have to type your username and password when you log into sites..

IE 7 issues with Windows XP security issues published 02/12/2007?

My computer auto-installed the Windows XP security updates that were published on 02/12/2007. Now Internet Explorer 7 does not work, showing me the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message. I am fully connected to the internet so that is not the problem. Any suggestions on how to fix my problem with IE 7?

Here are the updates that were installed:

Security Update for Windows XP (KB928255)

Update for Windows XP (KB931936)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB924667)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB928843)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB927779)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB927802)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB918118)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB926436)

Thanks!

All of those Updates are ligitimate updates. They are not causing your problem.

Try cleaning your Browsers Cache by deleting the Cookies, Temp Files and History in Internet Options.

I honestly don't know if this will fix it, but take a look at your Content Advisor. If it is on, turn it off.

You can find your Content Advisor settings by going to Tools %26gt;%26gt; Internet Options %26gt;%26gt; Content.

If it is currently enabled, disable it and try browsing again.
check your start up group . under tabs .it may have went to original default .
I have an almost identical problem. I installed the same 8 UPDATES but one is KB 931836 instead of 931936.Also my updates showed 2 additonal ones that you did not mention. KB 928090 and 890830. I did a system restore back to Feb 5th and now all is ok . I am afraid to reinstall them. Did any of the suggestions posted here work ?

Thanks

Peter
