IE 7 issues with Windows XP security issues published 02/12/2007?

My computer auto-installed the Windows XP security updates that were published on 02/12/2007. Now Internet Explorer 7 does not work, showing me the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message. I am fully connected to the internet so that is not the problem. Any suggestions on how to fix my problem with IE 7?

Here are the updates that were installed:

Security Update for Windows XP (KB928255)

Update for Windows XP (KB931936)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB924667)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB928843)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB927779)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB927802)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB918118)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB926436)

Thanks!

All of those Updates are ligitimate updates. They are not causing your problem.

Try cleaning your Browsers Cache by deleting the Cookies, Temp Files and History in Internet Options.

I honestly don't know if this will fix it, but take a look at your Content Advisor. If it is on, turn it off.

You can find your Content Advisor settings by going to Tools %26gt;%26gt; Internet Options %26gt;%26gt; Content.

If it is currently enabled, disable it and try browsing again.
check your start up group . under tabs .it may have went to original default .
I have an almost identical problem. I installed the same 8 UPDATES but one is KB 931836 instead of 931936.Also my updates showed 2 additonal ones that you did not mention. KB 928090 and 890830. I did a system restore back to Feb 5th and now all is ok . I am afraid to reinstall them. Did any of the suggestions posted here work ?

Thanks

Wireless Network security issues?

Suppose I have a wireless router and computer with Wireless card connected to it.

Can a second computer intercept the data exchange between the router and first computer? And can this cause a security problem - eg. if the first computer transmits username/passwords of bank account ? How to protect against this threat ?

Wireless Network security issues?noton

be sure to have either wep or wpa encryption turned on, and you can also encrypt the info being sent from pc to pc.

Wireless Network security issues?stinger

Your wireless signal can certainly be hijacked. Mine was, and I just got off the phone with the router manufacturer (Linksys), after a lengthy conversation on how to reset my wireless. My signal had been hjacked for days until I got the answers from Linksys. Call your router manufacturer, or look it up in a Google search. They will be able to help you set a password and a way to prevent hijacking.

Get the phone, sit down at the computer and call them. Wireless hijacking is a growing problem for all the wireless users. Prevent this by stopping it before it starts.

How do you maintain your computer performance?

How often do you defragment your HD in order to optimize your computer performance? When last you have ran Disk Clean up in order to remove unnecessary cookies, aches, etc?

When you attempt to download a program off the Internet, do you appreciate the time to read the software License Agreement? Also, do you always use caution when downloading stuffs from the Internet?

Do you have spyware, virus, firewall and other Internet security protections installed on your computer? If yes, what brand do you use?

What are some common practices to prevent Internet Viruses? In what condition do you protect your computer/notebook overall?

Which Internet Browser would you recommend to others without hesitating?

What are the easiest ways to become infected by viruses?

How do you maintain your computer performance?panda

Firefox, without a doubt. (I have mentioned which security programs to use below).

Following these steps will increase the "speed" of your computer dramatically.

1) Clean up the disk. Uninstall unneeded programs (especially those that run at startup and/or put something in the system tray), run Disk Cleanup, and defragment the drive. This is a good first step that will almost always take a few seconds off boot time and application loads for any computer.

2) Stomp auto-starting programs. Click Start %26gt; Run and type "msconfig" at the prompt. Click the Startup tab and look at all that junk that loads when you launch your PC. Do you really need "Adobe Reader Speed Launch"? Probably not. Turn off anything else that looks useless, but be careful not to disable your anti-virus and important system components.

Windows Vista and McAfee Security software.?

McAfee Security came with the Gateway computer, Vista Home.

What is the difference between anti-virus software and internet security suite software?

Is the anti-virus enough?? Or do I need a security suite?? Does the security suite slow down the computer or throw in annoying firewalls that block file sharing programs??

What is the best thing to do?

It seems if I go with a straight antivirus software I should get BitDefender....but Norton if I want a Security Suite....

Some advice would be helpful...thanks..

What is the difference between anti-virus software and internet security suite software?photoshop

Security suites tend to slow your computer a lot. Virus.gr did a test on anti-virus programs and Kaspersky v.6 ranked the highest, but the Active Virus Shield by aol is ranked second (well they both ranked the same on percent) anyways Active Virus Shield is based on kaspersky and it's free. The link is below

You can also play it safe with a separate firewall as stated before. Personally I like comodo.

go with a separate anti-virus and a separate firewall

Zonealarm Security suite is the best i think all in one suite!!!

but strong firewall weak anti-virus software
It all depends on what you do with your computer. If you do a lot of downloading and surfing I would suggest at least an anti-virus and spyware program.

COMPUTER GEEKS only! Are you looking forward to WINDOWS VISTA?

Are you upgrading as soon as possible when it comes out next January? Are you going to wait until XP support ends 2 years later (no more security updates which opens the computer up to hackers) and then upgrade? Hang on to your current program as long as possible?

COMPUTER GEEKS only! Are you looking forward to WINDOWS VISTA?product key

Do you really expect it to come out next January? It'll be delayed again for sure. However, when it comes out, I'll upgrade for sure. However, don't you think hackers will stop working on XP stuff once most people switch to Vista, meaning that XP will not be too dangerous?

COMPUTER GEEKS only! Are you looking forward to WINDOWS VISTA?triumph

I look forward to the day Microsoft shuts down lol...
Vista doesn't thrill me. More graphical features that require a higher specs. But nothing much else that hasn't been done already.
hey i used Vista Beta 2 and it killed my pc... i am not exactly keen for vista either... %26#123;but i am really tired of Windows XP%26#125;
well, you asked for computer geeks, so there, I say I'm not interested in Vista. If Microsoft doesn't do something extreme about its bugs and vulnerabilities, then no matter how many Vista version out there, they won't compare to my Slackbox. Vista? boohoo. mental retardness. use softwares that actualy PERFORM good. not the one that LOOKS good. duh.
I satisfied with my curent operating system windows XP, and not looking forward upgrade my operating system unless the VIST is entirely free.
I already have installed the beta version and it works excellent! As soon as the final version will appear it's going to be installed on my computer right away.
we have the Beta Vista program.....i'm not sure I like it, but, Like all of the others, I am sure I will get used to it.....

Yes, as soon as it is available for purchase I will have my PC upgraded....
NO, NO, NO!! I fired Bill Gates last year, and I use Linux now. It is WAY better than Windows, and alot more secure against worms and viruses. Bill Gates IS a worm and a virus, trying to infect the world with Windows!!

How to remove spyware infection warning after installing bt option 2 broadband upgrade with norton s

After the original license expired on macafee security package on a relatives computer a spyware infection was detected. We then proceeded to install a new bt broadband upgrade with norton security. As far as we are aware we uninstalled the original macafee security software. However after a full norton security scan removed some viruses and a spyware infection we still have a notification that a spyware infection is still present. This is showing in a pop up in the bottom right menu bar marked by the icon with a white cross in a red circle. The norton security status is showing as good. If you click on the icon/popup it disappears then comes back later but does not give any more information. Can anyone help?

How to remove spyware infection warning after installing bt option 2 broadband upgrade with norton security?software

Sounds very much like your computer is infected with the Vundo Trojan. Vundo Trojan generates fake warning messages and tries to force you into buying rogue antispyware products. To remove these message and the trojan that generates them, download and scan your PC with SpyNoMore, it is the most accurate program in detecting Vundo infections.

http://www.spynomore.com/adware-trojan-v...

By the way it is not free, but then again you should really question any so-called free solution. Isn't that how your computer got infected in the first place?!. The free scan will only check your system and show you the infections. If you choose to remove them, be prepared to pay.

Verizon Internet security protection is 100%? or no?

Verizon Internet security protection is 100%? or no?spyware removal

No internet security is 100%. Hackers can find their way through almost anything.

Verizon Internet security protection is 100%? or no?virus protection software

I dont know about 100% but it does have excelent protection better then any other
Heck no. Thats one of the reasons I just switched to cable. Plus they use a moronic white list approach to email so you tend to not get a lot of emails that aren't spam simply because the sender's domain isn't on their whitelist.
Verizon Internet Security Suite provides tools including Anti-virus, Firewall, Anti-Spyware and Pop-Up Blocker and if you use their automated updates every 3 hours to shield you from the latest dangers you should be alright. BUT, be aware no package provides 100% protection. My advice, backup your files regularly (preferably to an off site drive or removable medium, and add a hardware Firewall.
Yeah, there is no 100% security.

BUT IT OBVIOUSLY WORKS IF YOUR TYPING YOUR QUESTION IN!!!!!!!!!!

If computer were destroyed; How much data would I need on backup?Desktop, programs, all documents?

Assuming the worst case scenario; fire, water, total destruction of pcu by whatever cause: what would be needed to bring new computer to point I now have: security, downloads programs etc. I know some stuff comes with new computer but not everything that I have now. Just trying to get a good plan. Copy c drive?

If computer were destroyed; How much data would I need on backup?Desktop, programs, all documents?antivirus scan

Double click on "My Computer". Right-click on the C drive and choose Properties. There will be a graph and numbers stating how much space you're using up. That's the amount of data you need to back up if you want a full system recovery.

I suggest picking out the documents you need, burn them to a CD. Then if your computer bombs out, you can reinstall your operating system and programs from their original CDs and then restore the docs from the CD.

If computer were destroyed; How much data would I need on backup?Desktop, programs, all documents?computer security

make a back up of everything on your C:/ drive. you may need alot of blank discs (DVD or CD). then if you get a new computer, use the back up discs and your set
You can make a full image copy of your hard-drive, and store it in a safe place. If you computer gets destroyed you can transfer all the data to your new hard drive and your programs, fiels, moveis, images etc will be there and working just fine.
You can burn a CD, use a memory stick, or a portable hard drive to back up c:/. I use a 2 GB stick to back up all my documents.
If your computer gets destroyed, you will get a new one, it will have all your necessary startup files and everything on it. So all you need to have backups of is your "MY DOCUMENTS" (the stuff you have added to it. Right click on My Documents, go to properties and it will tell you how much you have saved there, then you will be able to figure out how many discs you will need. That is what I have done forever and my hard drive went out and I lost NOTHING.

You need to purchase and install one security suite for each Microsoft Windows computer you have.
if it covers more than one computer, you still have to download it on the computer which as no protection, Norton covers three.
u need to download the software on both computers. mcaffee should allow for 2 computers. if you're only running it on one, the other won't be protected.
I would go with free programs like AVG Free virus, and comodo

firewall. Both offer really good protection for free.

You need to switch to a MAC

Is it necessary to have a spyware program on your computer?

I currently have the mcafee internet security suite installed on my computer. It has virus protection, firewall, and privacy service. I would like to know if I need to also get some type of spyware protection, or is what I have enough???

Is it necessary to have a spyware program on your computer?ariel

McAfee's Internet Security Suite 2007, according to their website, does have a built-in spyware protection, so you should be OK. I would say you are fine for basic computer protection.

However, many tech-savvy types recommend multiple protection sources. The reason is that not all programs are updated with the same profiles/information equally, and where, say, McAfee misses something, SpyBot or AVG might catch it. The usual recommendation here is, go ahead and use McAfee as you have it, but also D/L another fairly reliable one. You can use AVG's anti-spy tool, which is free, or SpyBot, also free. Both are pretty good, and they will complement your protection. You don't need to keep them "resident"... just let them sit on your HD somewhere and every so often, run them manually so they catch anything that your regular protection did not.

Is it necessary to have a spyware program on your computer?computers

McAfee antivirus is one of the worst antivirus systems on the market, next to Norton AntiVirus is one of the largest system hogs! Now to your original question, yes it is imperative that you have a spy ware detection program on your system. Do a google search for spy bot search and destroy load this program. If you're McAfee antivirus system is a trial version, delete it out of your system, do a google search for the AVG, install this program. Good luck! Both of these programs are free!
To be honest with you, 2 years ago I would have said no, but now... Yeah, you do need one. Don't just download something that claims to be a good one off the computer, go with a bigger named brand, unless you really know what you're doing. Yahoo anti virus or the free AVG home antivirus
Hi, Perhaps you can try Norton or Mcafee to remove the virus, but you should pay for the software.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar, which can disable the virus, becasue the virus can only run on IE.

firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and spywareware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

The security part is probably from some kind of firewall you have set up meaning that you have some program running in the background so that it limits what you can download due to virus protection of some sort. Really depends on what kind of program you have in order for anyone to figure out how to turn that off.

Secondly, in order to clear your hard drive completely you should probably reformat which means you need the windows XP or Vista cd whichever one your using and restart your computer with the cd in the drive and itll ask you if you want to boot from the cd in which that case you should (but keep in mind that it will erase EVERYTHING so if you need to back up anything or have a external hard drive you should go ahead and use that) then after booting from the disc itll ask you if you want to reformat and then youll choose your main harddrive and from there on it should be an easy ride out with step by step instructions windows will give you
go to your security section and disable your firewall. Although , I'd be sure I knew the sorce of what you want to download so you don't catch anything nasty. Viruses are very nasty and costly. After you download what you want , be sure to turn your firewall back on .I'm not no computor wiz but I have experenced your problem in the past. Good Luck...

This question is far to complicated to answer with one response. Try http://www.techguy.org/ its free just create an account and post your question in the correct forum. These guys are extremely helpful and they will walk you through the process step by step. BTW to start in safe mode you need to tap F4 while the system is restarting, but if you want internet access be sure to chose the correct option.
Check that your firewall is turned on. Watch the security bar on the browser when downloading anti-spyware, it will pop a warning requiring you to confirm the download. Only use AVG free or Spybot search and destroy, there are many false spywares, these will damage rather than repair the machine.

What is the best computer protection package such as norton or McAfee?computer virus

I have found that freeware security and utility applications, when chosen after careful research and used in tested combinations, can provide protection matching or exceeding that provided by commercial suites. The problem with most of the suites isn't the antivirus protection, it's that their firewalls range from middling to lousy. McAfee provides good virus protection, but if you look at the firewall's performance on the independent testing site matousec (http://www.matousec.com ) it does NOT provide effective outbound firewall protection, and it's spyware protection is also not very effective. Meanwhile, there are several good free antivirus applications that are certified by VB100 and/or ICSA that provide protection at the same level as the commercial programs.

If you need freeware security applications, you can choose from the following:

firewall: (listed in order of preference)

Comodo (http://www.comodo.com ), or

PC Tools (http://www.pctools.com/firewall )

Comodo recently released version 3.0 of its firewall, which adds an intrusion prevention component that's very effective, though it does take time for it to learn your system, and requires some ongoing attention by the user to make sure programs don't get improperly blocked. Comodo is one of the strongest firewalls available, freeware or commercial, according to the independent testing site matousec.com.

Suggestions for video game console security in dorm room?

I'm moving into a dorm, and bringing my Wii and PS2. However, so many things are stolen in that situation nowadays, it makes me a bit paranoid. So, I was wondering if anyone had any tips or ideas on keeping a video game system safe in a dorm room. I know there are security locks for laptop computers, but can't find anything like that for a Wii or PS2. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a dresser or a chest of drawer that has a lock on it? Maybe you can keep it locked up in there when you're not using it and just bring it out when you are ready to play.

How can i access files from a damaged user account on another computer in windows xp?

We have been having problems with a computer at work, and our svchost.exe is all messed up. bottom line, i plan to reformat it to get rid of the headache, but i need to save files from the profile that was damaged most (unable to access anything from inside the profile). THE PROBLEM im facing is that when i tried to put the HD into another comp to access the files i needed to save. turns out windows denies my access to a passworded account even though its not in its original computer. ive tried to change the ownership from this computer, but i dont get the security tab when i press advanced.. is there any way i can get around this "access denied" error??? i appreciate all the help. i will award full points and best answer to anyone who can help me in the next half hour. thanks alot.

How can i access files from a damaged user account on another computer in windows xp?downloads

The sids for the old machine are blocking you, even creating the same user will not work as the sid will not match. Log in as administrator, you can then take ownership of the whole of the D: (or whatever) drive, set it to pass inherited permissions. Only administrator can do this. You will then be able to copy the files to your own drive and set their security correctly.

How can i be sure my computer is really safe? any 100% working ways?

How can i be sure my computer is really safe? any 100% working ways?ducati

Well first of all download the latest free and easy to use firewall , called zone alarm from http://www.zonelabs.com then use http://toolbar.yahoo.com yahoo toolbar with anti-spyware , scan your pc every night with those and no problem will ever happen, go sleep without worries!

How can i be sure my computer is really safe? any 100% working ways?hp

The only 100% secure computer is a switched off OpenBSD box with no disk drives or network connections in a basement where the light's gone, and so have the stairs, in a locked cupboard behind a door with the sign "Beware of the Leopard" on it. And maybe not even then.
There is no way to be 100% safe, but 99% is possible, you must be informed, WELL informed. Knowledge is power, learn about security threats and develop good surfing habits.

DO NOT open attachments, unless you already know that they are coming, and you already know whats in them.

DO NOT install activex controls, unless you know who they are from, and if you can really trust them.

DO have a good antivirus istalled. I reccomend Nod32, from www.eset.com It is very small, and is updated with the latest virus definitions several times a day.

I have questions about Internet security (currently using Panda)?

My computer is 14 months old, and it uses Windows XP. I've been using Panda Internet security ever since I got the computer.

When the Internet was hooked up, it had problems staying connected. A computer tech person told my dad that it was because the Panda firewall wasn't compatible with the Windows firewall. So my dad turned off the Panda firewall, and left Windows firewall running.

My Panda subscription is going to expire in a month, and I'm wondering, should I get a different Internet security--one that is compatible with the Windows firewall?

I've had so many problems with the Internet (it runs slow, loses connection, and sometimes it's even unresponsive for minutes)...Can this be related to the Internet security (along with other factors)?

I have questions about Internet security (currently using Panda)?firewall

First off your dad made a mistake by shutting down Panda in favor of the Windows XP firewall. The Win XP firewall is rated absolutely *worst*. (See source below)

I wouldn't worry about compatibility with your Windows XP firewall...shut IT down in favor of something better.

Until you decide what you are going to do for full coverage, install the *best* firewall. I suggest Comodo's Firewall Pro (and shut down the XP firewall):

I have a cable modem with high speed internet,t.v. and phone.I hooked up a wireless router through a network on my p.c. for my sons laptop, but it slows my computer down. Not to mention the security risk of someone getting into MY computer through the wireless network. Can I connect another modem to connect his wireless router to,so he can get a wireless signal without creating a network connection from my desktop computer?I have cables in every room in the house,so finding another connection is not a problem. The cable company,WOW hooked directly into the existing cable system,so there is connections to the cable everywhere.

well.. from what you said.. you mean that your pc is the Admin for all the other pc's ( you wanna control the rest pc's from your main pc) anyway .. about slowing your conniction it is normal.. but you will need to upgrade it just the first times you will feel it is kinda or actually not kinda :) you will feel it is slow but then you will get used to it.. and try using some programes to speed your pc there is a good programe i know.. but i am not that sure about it and it is free you can Google it (( CCleaner)) try it .. i am using it right now.. and about the wireless network.. you can make a Password for your conniction so no one could enter you computer and mess up with it.. but you will also need a really go Security Software.. like Norton..

If you haven't done anything since you posted this question, see if you can go back a step with system restore.

Power on

As soon as you see the system checking memory and before Windows tries to load, press and continue to hold the F8 key. You will come to a black and white DOS menu. Click F3 for Safe Mode.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Once in Safe Mode, click Start, Help.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;On my computer, with WinXP, if I click Start, Help, I come to a screen where one of the choices is system restore. If your computer works this way, you can return to where you were before you updated McAfee.

Help with Windows Security Center?

Whenever I start up my computer, a little balloon pops up on the taskbar on the bottom right corner of the desktop. It is a Windows Security Alert and says that my computer may be in risk and that I have no virus scan protection.

When I click on the balloon it says in the Windows Security Center under Virus Protection that "%1 reports that it is turned off. etc."

It says that it may not detect all anti virus programs but I have McAfee Security so I do not see why it would not detect it. Is this something I should worry about?

Kaspersky internet security blocks utorrent.?free spyware remover

To disable Kaspersky, right click on "K" icon on system tray and select Pause Protection.

It's not recommended though as it makes your PC unprotected.

The best way is to see which port uTorrent use which is currently blocked by Kaspersky.

To do that:

1. Double click "K" icon on system tray

2. Go to Anti-Hacker

3. Click Settings

4. Under "Enable Firewall", click Settings button

5. Create your own rule to bypass uTorrent

Kaspersky internet security blocks utorrent.?ktm

take out that software, u dont really need it, its garbage
I wouldn't totally disable it, just add the utorrent site to the trusted sites in your firewall.

Laptop, Wireless, McAfee, Security, Network, SLOW?

We have a new laptop (HP), i have lots of i-tunes on it, the kids use it etc. We have just managed to go wireless (Via Belkin) and have installed the McAfee security thing, since doing so the computer is sooooo slow, it took 45 minutes to start. I have since disabled half of the McAfee things and it is slightly faster (we have firewall and one other at the mo). Any ideas on how to have security and fast network. Also how do we make the computer secure, at the mo the network is unsecure, seeing as we do a lot of internt work we desperatly need to have a secure line. - Step by step insturctions if you can help please, i can plough through word etc. but setting and networks confuse the hell out of me. Many thanks in advance.

Laptop, Wireless, McAfee, Security, Network, SLOW?free spyware

McAfee is to powerful for your laptop and needs to be uninstall and replaced with a low memory usage program like AVG Free.

If you have windows xp or vista then theres a firewall program on it there which doesn't slow down the pc.

If you got vista then you also have windows defender which protects you from spy ware. If you got xp then you need to download this.

This will cover all security on your pc.

The wireless needs be set up with a wpa code on the access point. To do this then type 192.168.1.1 in a internet program. If this won't work then find out your internet ip by using http://whatsmyip.org and use that instead of the 192.168.1.1 this will get you into the wireless settings where you can set up a wireless code.

if i'm not mistaken, I think Norton saves a copy of your key on your pc in Documents. Either that or I saved it myself.

I'm surprised you can't find it by signing into your Norton account online. I have had to do that once when I had to reformat my drive.

if you created a norton account when you installed the software, log into the site and your product key should be on there...Norton is a really bad product though...Should go with Nod32 or kaspersky its well worth the money, and a whole lot better then norton
Hi, when you install Norton it normally creates a text file with your key and Norton then places this text file in a folder called Norton in your My Documents folder. Worth taking a look :-)
Norton is one of the worste virus scanners, i call it "Fales Hope". Get Avast, or buy NOD32.
Browse to and open the text file [Windows XP]:

Computer makes grinding noise when shutting down?

my best suggestion is delete the aol security and leave it deleted and go get avg antivirus www.avg.com that is all the protection you need, when you go to the website scroll down and look for the free antivirus version the full protection version cost 50 bucks you dont need that, and i have been recomended avg by many computer specialists, aol sucks though you should get dsl if you dont already have it
Keep well away from anything AOL, my last four days has been mostly trying to clean up an repair machines after AOL got at them. Different makes, different people, all AOL induced problems. The grinding noise is AOL Virus trying to test a non-existent floppy in the empty drive! There is plenty of other security software available.

Kaspersky security software on a laptop???

I installed Kaspersky Internet Security on a laptop and home computer. Now my laptop can't find the wireless device to connect to. I went to control panel, internet connections, and clicked repair on the wireless connection. The repair finished and it still tells me it there's a hardware malfunction. I went into device manager and nothing was wrong there. I've looked at all the physical pieces of our home network and nothing looks wrong. Also, I've never had a problem with our laptop while at home until Kaspersky security was installed. Ask any questions from me and I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible. Are these good Internet security tools?

I want to install all of these free internet security tools on my brand new computer to both prevent and detect and remove any threats that may get into my computer(Virus, Spyware, Adware, Identity theft, etc). I do not want to spend alot of money on software like Norton which I hear isn't that great anyway. Here is my list:

For Virus:

AVG Antivirus

Bit Defender

For Spyware and Adware:

Spyware Blaster

Spybot Search and Destroy

AVG Antispy

Windows Defender

Ad-Aware

Firewalls:

Zone Alarm

Comando Firewall

Are these good and is it ok to install and run them all together?

Are these good Internet security tools?internet security software

i'm using bit defender and zone alarm. they are really good. they block any almost anything. or ... anything.

Are these good Internet security tools?moto guzzi

Do not run two firewalls at the same time, most likely they will cause conflicts. I would stick with Zone Alarm, it's good. I also wouldn't run two anti-virus programs at once, although it may not cause any major problems. AVG is a good free option; I have never used Bit Defender. All of the spyware/adware programs you listed are good, and it shouldn't hurt to install them all. Personally I use Spybot and Ad-Aware, and between the two they find everything, and I've had no problems.
i use Avg-anti-viris free edition. and Ad-Aware se personal free edition. have used them for about 10 yrs havent had any probles yet.
Dont run them all together.Plus some of the security systems you have are rouge software.Only two I see are safe they are Windows Defender and AVG dont forget this http://spywaredoctor.com
These are all very good tools. I have them installed on my pc, they work very well.

Permanently uninstalling "CA Internet Security Suite 2007" from my pc?

I have installed this "CA Internet Security Suite 2007" to my Windows XP, and now I want to remove it. But I can't-- I have sucessfully removed the icon and the program, the problem is that every time I turn on my pc and log into my computer account it asks me for my password and right after I type it a loading bar starts to load and searches for this program I have to click cancel. Two of this windows pop out every single time I turn my computer on and log on. This is really getting so anoying and irritating. Is there any way to unistall this or permanently remove it? I will really apreciate it if anyone can help me. THANX.

Permanently uninstalling "CA Internet Security Suite 2007" from my pc?network

I would suggest going to Start - and then Search - search for "CA Internet Security Suite 2007" under all files and folders. Hopefully it'll return some results (or seach for part of the name if it doesn't work with the whole program name). I don't think it'd be 100% safe to delete every instance of the program (because maybe it's necessary for the proper functioning of some other program).

My other idea would be to install it again - yes, I know that sounds crazy since you're trying to get rid of it, but by reinstalling it, you can write down the filename/filepath of where the program installs itself and then be able to go and delete files from that folder/filepath. If you reinstall it and put an icon on your desktop, you can go directly to the program files by right-clicking on the icon and selecting Properties. Then, click Find Target and it will take you to the file directory.

Hope this helps.

Why doesnt my computer come with a battery charger? Much more!?

Im buying a dell, and im on their website, and i was just about to order my computer, and i realized it doesnt come with a charger! Shouldnt it come with the computer? Also, i have the option to get ( McAfee, Norton, or Trend Micro) for internet security, and there's a big price difference, which one should i get, and one last thing, i can go from 80GB to 120GB for $25 more, is it worth it? BTW it only has 1GB memory

Why doesnt my computer come with a battery charger? Much more!?nortan antivirus

If it is a notebook, or another battery-enabled device, than it should come with an AC charger.

I wouldn't choose any of the protection software products mentioned, but it is more a question of taste. Choose whatever you prefer and whichever is more convinient to use for you. Getting a 120Gb drive would be of more preference to me. When you order a new laptop, you just pay the difference between the drives for the upgrade. But if you decide to upgrade when you've already purchased it, you'll have to buy a new drive for, say, $75 and the old one will be of little use.

1 Gb is enough if you're not running memory intensive tasks and not running Vista. I'd recommend 2gb at least when buying a new laptop.
